How To Disable Right Click On Your WordPress Site

Losing your WordPress site in a crash may sound terrible, but it can be restored if you have a backup in place. But if your site falls prey to content theft, there’s no way to undo and make things look great again. If you have great content on your site which drives in huge traffic, you must take steps to protect your content as some shady people out there might see it as a hen that lays golden eggs.

Visitors might copy your images, text and use it on their site and reap the benefits of your efforts. The internet is full of such people, and you need to be prepared to protect your content from theft.

People copy things using right click or shortcuts like Ctrl+C, Ctrl+S, and many others.

So, if you disable right click on your WordPress site along with disabling selection of the text and other content, you’ll have your posts and images protected from all the jabronis trying to sabotage your content.

How to disable right click on your WordPress site?

There are two ways to do this:

 • Manually
 • Using plugins

#1 Disable right click on your WordPress site manually:

This one is really easy. All you need to do is just copy and paste some code on your site, and you’re done.

You can choose whether to disable right click on a post on your WordPress site or everywhere on the site.

Disable right click on a post on your WordPress site:

Step1: Go to your WordPress Dashboard and browse to posts. Go to the post on which you want to disable right click.

Right Click disable on post

Step2: View your post in the Text mode and add the following script.

Paste Right Click disable script on post

You can see under Happy Blogging I have added a script to disable right click on my post. You might be wondering, “What is that little green circle on the right most bottom?”

Well, that’s Grammarly – the world’s best grammar checker tool checking my post for mistakes. Know everything about Grammarly here.

Step3: Hit Update or if it’s a new post, Publish.

Update the post

And… you’re done! Now you can click on view site, go the post you just disabled right click on and try to select and copy text or image and see the trick working for yourself!

Disabling right click on the entire WordPress site:

I also mentioned about disabling right click on the whole WordPress site. To do that, just copy the above script and paste it in your theme footer file.

Wait, let me show you how it’s done.

 • Go to theme editor

theme editor

 • Click on theme footer and after the footer tag, enter the script.

theme footer

 • Click Update file. And this disables right click globally on your WordPress site.

#2 Disable right click using plugin:

Go to plugins and click add new.

premium right click protection

Here’s the settings page of the plugin. You can get protection for posts, homepage, and static page. To avail premium right click protection, you need to upgrade to premium version.
